This one-day course is designed for physicians wanting a basic understanding of orthobiologics and injection techniques for the thoracic and lumbar spine – and have a desire to progress their knowledge and skills utilizing ultrasound and fluoroscopy for cellular therapy, PRP and prolotherapy injection methods.

This diagnostic ultrasound and hands-on image guided spinal injection skills course will provide a comprehensive review of anatomy, pathology, and pathophysiology of injury and degeneration. The course will start with a didactic session and diagnostic ultrasound scanning. The interventional techniques presented during the didactic instructional sessions and will be practiced under the direct supervision of the instructors in order to enable participants to become proficient with these skills.

BASIC SPINE CURRICULUM
  • Lumbar interspinous/supraspinous/iliolumbar ligaments
  • Thoracic interspinous/supraspinous/iliolumbar ligaments
  • Lumbar/thoracic multifidi
  • Thoracic costovertebral joints/capsules
  • Lumbar facets/capsules
  • Sacroiliac ligaments
  • Caudal epidural

 

General Prerequisites

MD or DO with a musculoskeletal specialty:

  • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
  • Family Practice with the completion of a Sports Fellowship
  • Interventional Spine (Anesthesiology or PMR)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Interventional Radiology accepted only with significant hands on examination experience.
